Dr. Yuhang Huang is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, working with Prof. Evelyn Yim. With the aim of designing "smart" biomaterials that mechanically and therapeutically adapt to the body’s changing physiological needs, he is currently engineering arteriovenous grafts as vascular access for hemodialysis and hydrogel platforms for controlled drug and gene delivery. His long-term vision is to address clinical challenges in cardiovascular health.
Yuhang earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto under the co-supervision of Prof. Eugenia Kumacheva and Prof. Hani Naguib. His doctoral research advanced the fundamental understanding of how physiological stress governs both transport phenomena and mechanical properties in soft matter that emulates native tissue architectures. His key contributions include establishing biomimetic hydrogel models and theoretical frameworks to study transport properties of tissues in related to disease progression, as well as engineering polymer materials for programmable drug delivery.
